Kickin’ 4 Kidz

Kickin’ 4 Kidz was established in 2012 as the first fundraising activity to begin building Gregory’s Gift Adoption Fund. The event was a 4 hour benefit soccer clinic where kids (K-8th grade) put their feet into action to help adoptive families overcome financial hurdles associated with adopting a child. Guest coaches and players from the Riverhounds professional soccer team provided a mixture of soccer skill instruction and fun competitive challenges under the light of the Avonworth soccer field. The inaugural event raised $10,000 to benefit the Adoption Fund!

How did Kickin’ 4 Kidz start?

On Sunday, August 19, 2012, New Community Church, in Wexford, PA, gave away $10,000 in $100 bills, to over 100 people in the congregation. Each person was charged with taking on a Kingdom Assignment. This assignment was to use the money to expand God’s kingdom here on earth and to glorify Him.

A group of parents in the Avonworth community took their $100 and joined together to put on the first annual “Kickin’ 4 Kidz” soccer-a-thon. The purpose was to raise funds that help families afford the expense of adoption. The group formed a partnership with the national Lifesong for Orphans organization for administration of the fund.

To date the inaugural event provided enough funds to help build housing units in the Ukraine, in an effort to provide a safe living environment for teens who have aged out of the adoption process.

Additionally, the fund has been successful in providing financial assistance to a local PA family, supporting their efforts to adopt a special-needs child from Africa.
